  • This is a cab view of the Iida Line train that connects Toyohashi Station in Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture, located almost in the center of Japan's largest island, Honshu, and Tatsuno Station in Nagano Prefecture.
The Iida Line is a long line with a total length of 1,957.7 km, and construction was progressed by four private railways from the late 1800s, and the entire line opened in 1937. This line runs through a deep valley between two mountain ranges, and especially between Chubu Tenryu Station and Tenryukyo Station in the center, the line runs through a deep valley and the population along the line is small. For this reason, this section is often referred to as ``one of Japan's most unexplored railways.''
This video includes a cab view from Chubu Tenryu Station to Tenryukyo Station. There are a lot of tunnels, and many of them are long, so we omit footage of some of the tunnels and when the driver stands up to open and close the door and passes in front of the lens. please note that.
Originally built as a private railway, the Iida Line is a long line, but the distances between stations are short and the population along the line is small, so there are no high-class trains running along the entire line. not. The train I rode on that day was one of the few trains that ran the entire line and stopped at every station, but it took 6 hours and 30 minutes to travel the entire line.
It takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes to get from Chubu Tenryu to Tenryu Gorge, and it would be too long to upload this video all at once, so this time I recorded part 1 from Chubu Tenryu Station to Hiraoka Station on the way. Later, as Part 2, I will upload the cab view north of Hiraoka Station, and I will also upload footage of the southern and northern parts of the Iida Line in due course. The landscape of each region is quite different from the region we will upload this time.
The ``渡らずの鉄橋'' that appears along the way means a bridge that does not cross the river. At this bridge, the railway line continues above the river from the left bank, but above the river the railway line makes an S-shaped curve and then returns to the left bank of the river. This mysterious bridge was probably built as an unavoidable measure because there was no space to lay railroad tracks. It reminds us of the hardships experienced during construction in the distant past.

Why was the railway built so deep in the mountains? That's the route I feel. Thanks to the efforts of our predecessors.

Thank you so much for all these videos. I find them very relaxing, and I often watch one (or part of one) to wind down before sleep. I appreciate your efforts greatly. 😃

I love your rides on mountain railroads. The variety of scenery is so impressive. The driver on this train has a real skill with the brakes. It feels as if he let's the train drift to a stop, at each station, rather than applying the brakes.

Thank you for your comment. In addition to mechanical brakes, trains on this line are equipped with electronically controlled pneumatic brakes. Regenerative brake is not included.
Since the route is infrequently operated, it may be difficult to use Regenerative brakes.
Since there are many stations, I think you need to be careful when driving. Smooth driving and announcements are probably the result of training.

Wow jalur rel trak pegunungan yang keren, kenapa semua terowongannya gelap tak ada lampunya dan juga sepertinya rawan longsor & pohon tumbang

The reason why the headlights are not visible is probably due to the structure of the cab. A wall is blocking the field of view of my camera. This is probably a measure to ensure the driver's field of vision. Don't worry if the image looks completely black.

This is the only line in Japan with this many continuous tunnels.

13:30 ¿Por qué hay tanta gente filmando la llegada del tren ?
    なぜ電車の到着を撮影する人がこんなに多いのでしょうか?

Of course, it is equipped with headlights etc. My lens doesn't show that irradiation range.
